Expanding the school day, week, or year could help boost student success by offering more core lessons and enrichment activities, according to a report from the Center for American Progress.

The additional learning time, primarily in the after-school hours, would allow instructional innovation, more one-on-one tutoring, in-depth lessons, hands-on activities, and greater use of technology, argues the report by Elena Rocha, a senior education analyst with the Washington-based think tank.

鈥淢ore time also enables schools to expand the curriculum and integrate or maintain important enrichment activities 鈥 such as art, music, sports, and drama,鈥 the report says.
